Why Multnomah
A Seminary committed to ministry training
While we live and work in a world of rapid change, Multnomah Biblical Seminary embraces and imparts eternal values. Our educational mission can be summed up in three essentials: the unchanging Son of God, the inerrant Word of God, and the immeasurable value of people. Consequently, the Seminary's educational philosophy is preparing Christian leaders to take revealed truth of the risen Savior to real people. Since God's calling is often personal, Multnomah's programs are designed to meet the personal needs of its students. Multnomah offers two complementary, non-repetitive tracks of study for the seminary student.
Standard Track
The standard track is designed for the college or university graduate with no formal Bible or theology training. Such students enter the Graduate Certificate foundation year and then continue with one additional year (Master of Arts in Biblical Studies or Pastoral Studies) or two additional years (Master of Divinity)
Advanced Track
The advanced track is designed for the Bible college graduate who seeks a deeper, richer ministry preparation. In effect, such students enter the second-year curriculum, building on their biblical and theological foundation rather than repeating it. In their second or third years, they go farther in ministry preparation, taking advanced level courses or selecting concentrations for deeper enrichment.
Multnomah accommodates, as much as possible, a student's work schedule, ministry responsibilities, and family priorities. For that reason, the requirements for the Master of Arts and Master of Divinity programs are usually scheduled on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Graduate Certificate requirements are scheduled Tuesday through Friday. For those who commute longer distances or have substantial ministry or work responsibilities, the program may be completed over a longer period of time by taking courses on Friday's only, or on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Summer classes also contribute to the principle of flexible scheduling.
A Seminary committed to excellence in professional education
While Multnomah Biblical Seminary focuses on ministry preparation, all classes are taught at the highest academic levels. Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools ensures the finest academic and professional preparation possible. Multnomah's faculty are recognized internationally as some of the finest teachers and mentors in educational institutions. Trained at the highest academic levels, experienced in a full range of ministries, and devoted to the service of the Lord, the faculty are committed to training men and women in biblical, theological, and professional ministries. The Seminary holds firmly to the saying, "When a student is fully taught, he will be like his teacher."
