NWCCU Accreditation

Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary is now an accredited academic institution with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education. Dr. Daniel R. Lockwood, president of Multnomah, received an official notification on July 26, 2006 that Multnomah was granted initial accreditation by the Commission. This final step in Multnomah's accreditation process is the culmination of almost 8 years of work on the part of Multnomah's accreditation team, headed by Dr. Wayne Strickland, College Academic Dean.

Dr. Sandra Elman, president of NWCCU, confirmed that Multnomah's accreditation is effective from September 1, 2005. This will result in graduates from 2005-2006 academic year receiving a degree from an accredited institution.

NWCCU accreditation allows Multnomah to expand into new territory. Multnomah's bachelor degrees will now be recognized by those state and private institutions that only accept students into graduate programs with a "regionally accredited" bachelor's degree. Individual classes will have a better chance of credit transferability to these institutions. Equally important, Multnomah will be able to offer education programs that provide graduates with special licensure, such as teaching and counseling programs.

Benefits of Regional Accreditation

Multnomah believes that regional accreditation will benefit our students and graduates because accreditation will strengthen Multnomah Bible College and Biblical Seminary. We will become part of a regional academic community and a regional peer review accountability structure. We value the opportunity to be part of this community and the benefits that peer review would provide.
